Where Love and Magic Begin: The Inspiration Behind My Stories

Where My Love for Magic and Romance Comes From
As a younger person, I was captivated by stories with happy endings — the kind where love conquers all. Movies with sweeping romances, grand gestures, and heart-stopping moments always drew me in. On TV, I was glued to shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and, in my early teens, Charmed. There was something about the blend of magic, danger, and love that sparked my imagination and never let go.

Real Life Meets Fiction
The humor and banter in my stories often come from real life. I’m naturally someone who loves to make people laugh and feel happy. That light-hearted, playful energy sneaks its way into my characters and the worlds I create. Life is serious enough, and I want my stories to give both my characters and my readers a moment of joy amidst the magic and adventure.

How My Worlds Begin
When I create my romantasy worlds, the first image that usually comes to mind is me, because I truly become my characters while I write. I see myself standing on top of a hill, sword in hand, wind whipping my hair, magic thrumming around me. I’m terrified, but stubbornly determined to face whatever challenges await and make things right. Standing by my side is a man just as stubborn and strong — even stronger than me, at times — who would protect me and sacrifice everything, yet refuses to admit just how deeply his love consumes him. That scene is always the spark that sets the rest of the story in motion.

Themes That Drive My Stories
The core themes I explore are love stronger than anything else, destiny, and courage — though each story approaches these ideas in a unique way. I love showing that love can overcome all odds, that bravery can take many forms, and that sometimes the heart leads us to the most extraordinary adventures.

Inspiration Behind “The False King”
While writing The False King, I’m drawing on a story that’s been in my head for years. It’s a tale of epic battles, a magical world that mirrors our own in some ways but is entirely its own in others, and a power strong enough to set things right. At the center of it all is a love so true and consuming that it drives both the characters and the story forward, making readers root for them to succeed and survive against all odds.

Magic, love, courage, and destiny — these are the elements I hope readers will feel as they step into the worlds I create. And for me, every time I write them, I feel alive, fearless, and completely in love with the story unfolding before me.
